14" Rockwell lathe at auction

This 14" Rockwell has come up at a auction. I saw this lathe at a local machinery dealer several years ago. Although I didn't run it or even give it a real close inspection, I seem to remember that it was in pretty good shape though I haven't seen it in a few years. It is now definitely dirtier. At that time I believe it sold for a little over $6,000. It might be a good buy at auction. It is well equipped. I don't have any interest but passing it along.

10% buyers premium with sales tax figured after. Keep that in mind if you’re a bidder.

I've seen a couple auctions charging 16%-18% premiums so it could be worse.

Buyer's premium
A 10% buyer's premium will be added to all winning bids, resulting in the total purchase price, exclusive of any applicable sales taxes, owed by the winning bidder. The buyer's premium will be included in the price against which applicable sales taxes are calculated.

Considering a new generic Chinese 1030 Lathe these days will run around $4500 with shipping, this might be a reasonable alternative for someone looking for a larger lathe assuming the price doesn't climb to high.

As far as auction premiums go, 10% is about as good as it gets from what I've seen. I believe this is more of a local auction which usually don't get too outrages in the bidding. However, I do remember one Clausing lathe on this auction site where a couple bidders got carried away.

One nice thing I found was that if you register for the auction, you have access to the seller by phone. He informed me that he has a forklift to load it, but this was before I decided I really didn't need another lathe - at least this one.
