Releasing a steel rod from concrete.

Just to follow/end the thread, I used a pipe wrench on the handle to break the rod free from the concrete, then used a jack to get it out of the hole. Once it was free, it could go in and out of the hole without a problem.

Naturally, upon opening the gate, one of the hinge pins snapped in half. Now I have to figure out if I can replace the pin without having to cut off the hinge (at first glance, the way the hinges are, it was all welded together as a unit.

And I called off the dredging operation for plan B.
