I followed Mr. Gruby's grinder build with great interest and even greater envy. (It is certainly within Andre's capability I'm sure.) I look forward to anything our members build here so I can live vicariously through this site. Sadly, to build everything I want to build, I'll have to live another 200 years, and work uninterrupted. The good news is I'm getting closer and closer to retirement every day...

So, in getting back to the OP, I think your looking for a money making niche that uses your (many) talents and time wisely. It appears 1-2-3 or 2-4-6 or Do-Ray-Me blocks are out. So what's in the front running?

I really need to get me some plans of T&G's. I loved Bills build but I could not build anything like it without some plans. I just dont know enough about them to even attempt it. But I have a thing for building machine tools. The deeper I get into machining the more basic machine engineering gets i my head. Look at my bridgeport, minus the head, it's just a few chunks of metal with dove tails, screws and nuts. Yes thats a bit dumbed down, but thats essentially all it is.

Bill certainly made me want and see the value of a t&g. Shoot it would pay for it's self just in one lot of used mills. Clean them up and just saved a ton

Quorn Plans are available and the Bonelle TPG plans are also. The Bonelle link in my thread shows a 404 error now but you can google it. You can even get a casting set for the Quorn. The Bonelle is very close to mine in building.

1-2-3 blocks, currently from CDCO for twelve bucks:

Supplied in pairs
Precision ground
Squareness of all sides is within .0002"
Heat treated and hardened to RC55-60

Is it bad to want to make all that? I think I'll order me some plans and start buying stuff. I think it's a tool they will pay for it's self over and over again

Thanks Bill

If it were bad, I would not have built it. LOL Let's give this thread back to Andre. It's all yours son.

It's alright, Bill. Go ahead and keep chatting, I'm interested in TC grinder stuff anyhow.

I've decided to not make 123 blocks, and maybe will do something different. Grinder is still a possibility, I've been in contact with the seller so now I just have to convince my dad :biggrin:

Hey Chuck, could you show us some pics of your mill?

Andre and Chuck;

Do not overlook the Modified Brooks Cutter Grinder. If you have access to or have back issues of the Home Shop Machinist the Modified Brooks Cutter Grinder begins in the March/April 2013 issue and I believe it runs for three or four issues.

Can you get back issues for that mag? At this point I kinda want a few sets of plans. That way I have more then one option and perspective.

My mills nothing special. Just an old 59 BP That came with enough slop to scare some. But a few shims it's a Gem to me. And at 800 or so bucks, well I would do it again and again. The rams degree ring was sanded down so it does not have paint on it. My intent was to sand it leaving black in it. I think a die would work better as it's plan metal again
