Youtube is painful these days.

My dad was a TV addict. One day, I looked at his cable bill, and it was somewhere close to $300 per month.

I don't watch network TV or cable entertainment channels. It's all for degenerates these days, they ram sports you don't want down your throat, like every man on Earth is required to be a sports fan, and it's a waste of time. I have Amazon Prime, which I rarely use for video. I have to have Starlink because I need the web for business, and I live in the sticks. I also pay for ad-free Youtube.

I don't mind paying for Youtube. In spite of the continued creeping toward 1984, it's full of useful things. You can even take college courses for nothing. My buddy told me when he needs to learn how to do something, he goes to Youtube University.

I haven't watched TV in several years. I don't waste my time on sports. Youtube has a mix of garbage and very good stuff. Easy to skip the junk. I can use Google maps/earth to walk the streets of almost any place in the world. Wikipedia to look up most anything. How to most anything. News from around the world with different slants on what actually happened. Music of all kinds. Why would I watch TV?

Same here. No TV since 2015

does that mean he can't have grown up in the London or suburbs? Or that it can't be Cockney?

Most people consider all Londoners as Cockneys which is not strictly true and it is far from that simple.

The term "Cockney" refers to a person born within a specific area of London and, traditionally, to be known as a 'true' Cockney you have to be born within earshot of the Bow Bells, the bells of the Church of St Mary Le Bow in Cheapside, the East End of London.

Yes, my missus is a "true" Cockney.
