What Did You Buy Today?

I actually found the ft worth location by accident. I was searching for a price to offer a guy on a baby 36 inch table bridgeport he wanted way too much for. When I googled searched their site came up and ended up getting a 54" victor variable speed with a dro for half of what he wanted for the banged up pulley head baby bp. Im like oh crap this place is like 20 mins from the house. When I picked it up it all went down hill from there and its now somewhat of a friday ritual.

Thanks Shotgun. The parts list that came with the manual states it’s a 4K7 Pot. I don’t really see 4K pots on eBay though. Would 5k be ok? (Im not too hot on electrics)

Don't look on ebay, this is an item Amy hobby elections store should stock and 4k7 is a very common value.

Don't you guys in the USA have Tandy or RadioShack in every town? Or am I showing my age here?

Both those companies are defunct, but we have Mouser and Digikey. 4k7 is very common though.

I’m not in America, I’m in the UK. I don’t have any shop near me that’d stock something like that (that I’m aware of)

Sadly, most of us in the US don't have a good local parts shop anymore either. I get most of that stuff online now. The closest place I have that MIGHT have electronics parts is a fair drive away and it just isn't worth it for most things.

Sure, but they’re both online ordering only and I think the comment made in my direction was about buying from a local shop rather than online.

Fair enough. However, the days of local stocking shops may have past. They have in my area. I just order stuff online, and it gets to me in a week or so. The above electronics places (and there are others in the UK) have fairly decent catalog descriptions. I don't think it would be that difficult to find a 4.7K pot. If you were to publish the required dimensions, there's more than one of us here that could find something suitable.
Shaft diameter and length, body diameter and length, that sort of thing. That being said, the old fashioned pots are less common these days.

Kind of expensive, but there's: https://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/Vishay-Sfernice/PE30L0FL472KAB?qs=Ub2JFBCWywJsx2dSXBb%2B6g==

Thanks WobblyHand. I’ve already found (had delivered and fitted) a replacement from eBay. I generally use online shopping for everything like this as it’s by far and away more convenient and less time consuming. I’m also able to see reviews of the seller and item before I get it. I guess the comment made towards me about not using online shopping and to instead use a local physical shop was for me to ‘support local’, which I in theory agree with, but it’s extremely unpractical in situations like this for me to go to a local shop to buy an electronic item that I can have delivered within 24 hours for £2.99. I would assume my most local physical place I could buy this from would be at least an hours drive.
