What Did You Buy Today?

The wife and I spent two days in Glenwood Springs to give my hip a little break. While perusing the local FBMP I found this PhaseMaxx/Electram RPC (made in Canada). It was originally listed for $3000, and marked down to $1000. I offered $500, and she came back with $600, and I said sold. Had to come back yesterday to pick it up with the small trailer. The generator/motor weighs 390#, and we loaded it up with her small Kabota. Came with all the ancillary equipment, and from the limited info I could find I think its rated to start a 20hp motor. Called the manufacturer, and they are going to do an archive search and give me all the build specs. Used the backhoe to get it in the man door as the big doors are blocked at the moment. Set a five gal bucket next to it for size reference. Have it sitting on my last free machinery skate the so I could roll it up against the wall until it goes to it's final resting spot above the auxiliary electrical panel in the welding shop. Installing it there so it will be quieter next door in the machine shop where I will be when it's in use. The control panel, disconnects, and 3phase breaker panel will be in the machine shop on the other side of the insulated wall from the motor. Mike

wow, the bucket really helps ... WOW. Do you have enough power to run that? Do you need a pony to start it? The lights across the whole mountain will go dim while that starts up.:p
great price...

I did not buy but my wife did for Fathers Day.

Cutting oil is my blood.

yes, welcome, and those are difficult to understand. The vernier normaly goes to 10, I don't understand going to 20.. those are reading .8 18 mm.

or maybe multiply by 5 .890mm

Welcome to the fun. We are glad you are here. And thanks for the post. Those are really COOL! My question is, do you know how to read them?:eagerness:
I can read a vernier scale easily. I have not looked at these that closely YET. I am still in awe with the over all look. Found a similar set online and found they are likely from the mid 1800's.

My father was a machinist, tool maker. I grew up playing with his lathe and mill and was a machinist for 10 years then went into engineering. He and my mother passed away last fall and he left the shop contents to me. I thought I knew every tool he had but was surprised when I found these things.

I think they will be wall hangers in an office.

New to the site... 1st post.

Check out this set of calipers...
Am I reading that these are both inch and metric. Inch vernier is fractional maybe 1/16, 1/32, etc. Metric is .005mm vernier???

Neat tool!
