What Did You Buy Today?

@jwmelvin I see an Ultrasonic cleaner in your picture. I have one that looks the same.

The drain fitting attached to the tank on mine developed a leak dripping cleaning fluid onto the circuit board. By the time I noticed it the circuit board was destroyed.

You may want to inspect yours and keep an eye on it.

I think so. It’s been a few years since I’ve looked at mine. I plan to machine a new fitting for the drain hole. The original seemed to be “pot metal”.
Then I have to deal with the burnt traces on the pcb.

after you fix and get it working, can you put an epoxy coating over the entire board? are there any heat sinks

Or maybe an electrical conformal coating. Usually silicone based spray or brush on coating used to protect boards from environmental contaminates. Basically purpose made product to protect circuit boards.

Been shopping again (just too many sales!):

3/8", 5/16" & 1/4" Tight Tolerance 12L14 rod [a project & stock], M3 Shoulder Bolts [spares for a Mini-Lathe Indexing Plate], M5 x 5mm Brass-Tipped Set Screws [project & stock] and an E-Z-Lok bit for #10 & 1/4 Inserts (McMaster)

I picked it up this morning and spent a couple of hours cleaning it with mineral spirits and a couple of different brushes.
Got most of the grunge and "nastyphilis" off of it so I don't feel the need to wear a hazmat suit to use it.
Need to find a small chuck or two for it now.
BTW, it's a 12" not a 10".
I added some bling to my "new" rotab.
I still plan to put a larger 3 jaw on it cuz I can dial in a part by loosening the bolts in the T slots. But this little cutie came up on CL for a good price so I grabbed it.
Will need to find a 7/16" female chuck wrench for it now.

PS, I anyone has a nice chuck wrench - preferably a USA/vintage one - that they don't need I would be interested.

Recently picked up my first mill. A Bolton Tools ZX32GP (A ZX32G with a power feed standard) which is similar to a PM-727M. It isn't anything special, but the price was right and it came with a few accessories such as a stand, clamping kit, vise, set of end mills, two axis DRO kit (not installed), parallels, ER collet adapter. As I understand it, the previous owner purchased it years ago and passed away. This seems further supported by the fact the mill had no feet installed for the stand, and the vise only opens an inch or so due to the leadscrew being bent. That vise should have been returned.

Some notable items:
  • The column to base connection was covered with Bondo when it was being finished. No seam is visible for tramming the column if needed.
  • The leadscrews appear to be true inch.
  • The ways are all flaked. Machining on the ways leaves a lot to be desired.
  • It came with some plastic shield that flips out of the way when making tool changes. It has a safety switch that forces you to close the shield. I pulled that off and will see about disabling the switch. If anything, it may be a good spindle lock safety if I go that route one day.
  • With the help of HM, I ordered a Tegara 440V vise as a replacement.
  • I have some leveling casters on the way along with some collets, clamping bolts for the X,Y,Z axis (Y axis ones are missing), Edge Technology indicator holder for tramming,

Casters came apart on the carrier that I built for the shell of the 912...

New ones arrived today.

And on my way to get 4 of those car dollies from the local HF, to move the cars in the garage around...

WS-105.jpeg

I need to make space to finally move the Wells-Index mill in it correct spot... for that, one car needs to come out, the second one needs to be moved to the side. Then I can take the opportunity to finally hang the 1:32 track table. It is all a frigging puzzle... but we will get there.

I was supposed to do all this last weekend, but my daughter stopped by and we did absolutely nothing in the house, we just spent quality time with her. That is priceless.

I did move the two transmissions from the garage to the workshop. The crane came in handy... glad I have not moved it to the workshop... It will be moved once I have all the machines in the garage located in their final place.

Big one is for the 964 and the small one, with the towel on top, for the 912.

Oh, and the small toolbox that I have for the Logan lathe, it was damaged during the move. Not a strong toolbox and it was full with all the chucks and accessories for the Logan... I think the rails are toast. Have not had the chance to empty the drawers and check. Best case scenario it is a simple fix. Worse case, I will get another one.

If you need indicators for that tramming tool and can wait a few weeks until I get back to SC, I have some really nice Mitotuyo 0.01mm (0.0004") balance indicators that would be perfect for it for not much money

that's a good reminder for me to empty out some of the heavy stuff from my bench drawers before we move.

If you need some slides I have some ball bearing slides that might fit. Yours for the price of postage.
