Thanks for the boring bar recommendation and the advise to keep it, I definitely will now. The shank is a stubby but I guess it was designed like this as I saw one on eBay that looked the same so I guess it’s no issue.
And yes, you are correct Woodchucker in that my machine takes R8 collets.
