I recently purchased this Criterion 202 boring head and I now have reason to use it:

You can see that I have a short boring bar mounted. I want to use the horizontal mounting hole to bore a larger diameter hole. If I use the existing tool the "heel" of the tool will be presented to the work. I think I need a different geometry. Maybe a left handed tool? What is the appropriate tool for this specific application?
Another option would be to rotate the tool facing the other direction and run the machine in reverse?

@extropic It does have a threaded head. Thanks for the heads up (heads off?) I need a hole 3.5". I may be able to do it with the tool as is, but it will be close. Criterion lists the max size for the lateral hole as 3" but obviously it could be a little larger depending on the tool diameter at the cutting edge.

Regular brazed carbide boring bars will work. I also modified an Aliexpress boring bar insert holder to fit, works nicely. Whatever, you want a tool which will cut when you are rotating clockwise, considering your screw-on arbor.
