Finally got around to re-working this setup yesterday.
Decided to ditch the 16' (4.8M) extension ladder.
We have two 10' (3M) step ladders laying around. One a Werner the other a Husky (home depot)
Went with the Husky. Removed the backside legs because when it was in the collapsed position the rear cross braces interfered with the 'steps'
Anchored a 1x4 block at the feet into the concrete, and then chained the top to the main beam up in the attic.
If the ladder comes free now there will be bigger problems to deal with.
Makes for a much better 'feel' (wider steps) going up and down compared to the extension ladder I was using.
Wish I could have used one of those pocket fold-down stairs but that would have required some major re-hab.
