SUCCESS! Well, at least partly. It WAS the snap ring (#24). That was a bear to get out. I had to use a pick though this hole to get to it.
Once it was loose I could slide it off, making sure I don't lose the ball bearings.
I was able to get the ball retainer out (#20). But the collar that's behind it (#19) won't come out. It's like the OD of it is exactly the same as the ID of the clutch yoke cone. I need to get these apart so I can deal with the threads at this end of the draw tube. They are a little mangled. I was going to chuck it up in the lathe and chase the threads, but I might have to resort to leaving these all together and finding a die to clean them up.
