Keep shim stock in a variety of thicknesses on hand with these sets, which are color-coded by thickness for easy identification. The sheets come flat packed; cut them into custom shapes to fit your application. Shim stock is corrosion resistant.

Plastic shim stock works well in light duty applications. It's easier to cut than aluminum stock.

Hmmm, this time it seems to have worked.

Ah, OK. Yeah, these are still being considered. The .0125" is close enough to the .013" that I might go that route if all else fails. I can get it by itself for less than $20. Just need to know if it is applicable as a gib shim.

you do know you can get by with other sizes. Just loosen or tighten the gib to adjust. Anything will do if the gib is backed out and your shim fits well.

I like the part that it cuts easily and doesn't leave all the sharp edges and burs that metal does after cutting.
I can layer the .0005 or the .001 on top of another size and create other sizes.
DON'T forget the oil passage

What about three layers of shim tape?

This was inexpensive enough to just order some, so I did. I cleaned the gib off completely with acetone, warmed it up with a heat gun, and set down three layers, trimming and stoning in between. Fits great. I think .013" would have been perfect, but this is well within where I wanted it to be. Thanks for the suggestion.

Glad you found a viable solution. Will watch for video !

Glad it seems to have worked out. I enjoyed first learning of it as an option.
