Hi I just joined because I recently acquired a RongFu RF-31 that will need a spindle rebuild. I have been searching and finding some info on how to rebuild the Head and spindle, I have .039 backlash at the X axis and .029 at the Y axis. Should I pull of the end dial and shim the dials to "tighten" it up and do people have the shims to do so available to buy$$ I contacted The Little Machine Shop today but they did not have much though they were extremely helpful.
Is there any body that stocks parts and accessories for the RF-31.
Thank you all, Have a great weekend Holiday in Memory of all our Soldiers Past and Present!!

Contact Grizzly, I think they still have parts for their G1006/1007 which is a (clone?) of a RF-30/31.
Lotsa information on line.

There is info on servicing the spindle in the Rong Fu section. The backlash on your mill is not adjusted with shims. Instead, there is a screw on each leadscrew nut that can be adjusted to dial out the backlash.

When I rebuilt/re-bearing'd the spindle on my Grizzly G1007 (RF-30 clone), I was able to buy a new crenelated bearing preload nut and star washer. Only trouble is ... my older mill used LH threads for the nut, and the newer nut was threaded RH.

Here are three articles by Rick Sparber (a forum member) with info on his Enco RF-30 clone and my Grizzle:

Don't know how much different the RF-31 is, but I hope these articles help you!
