Removing a drill chuck

It's a reversible drill motor so I have a feeling it's glued on- o_O I may just leave it be
My Craftsman cordless drill was and still is reversible. Just give the hex key a mighty whack! Yes, it goes against mechanical empathy, but trust me, the mighty whack does work. There have been no ill effects. Put a Rohm chuck on it, it is much nicer than before. My chuck doesn't suck!

Your chuck isn't glued on - it just needs a large enough impact to loosen it. Whack it!

Remove the left handed screw that’s holding the chuck on. Don’t use a ball end Allen wrench, the ball could break off.

Chuck up the short leg of a 3/8” Allen wrench. Hold the drill in your left hand with the chuck resting on the edge of a work bench. Rotate the chuck so the wrench is pointing up at 30 or 40 degrees. Using a 16 oz hammer, whack it with authority! It may take a few try’s but it will unscrew.

I have a Milwaukee right angle drill that the chuck has to come off to reconfigure the drill. That chuck has been knocked off of there countless times in the last 25 years.

Got it! Decided to do "The Crusher" instead and I'm glad I did- that sucker was really on there and would have busted a gear for sure if I didn't change my approach- it was actually glued on I think- sure felt like it. The gears look sintered
Took about an 18" breaker bar+ heat gun + split hunk of wood in my mill vise
No muss, no fuss, no damage:
