POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

The smell of that stuff makes my lungs stop working.
Rapid Tap does the same thing. It's ok for hand tapping but no turning or milling.

The older I get the more sensitive I am to smells and scents.
No perfume or scented candles are allowed in our home.
My bride use to use perfume in our younger years. Ah the memories :)
Pretty much the same for me. Perfumes make me sneeze now. Can't walk down the detergent aisle in the grocery store without my eyes watering and wanting to sneeze. Use unscented laundry detergent, because the perfumes make me ill.

Tap magic smoking off gives me headaches. WD-40 doesn't bother me as much. I was exposed to a lot of chemicals in my career, but the worst was from radar absorbing materials in antenna test ranges. That stuff would give me migraine like headaches within minutes of exposure.

If you aren’t using white vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser, you’re missing out, it really helps rinse out the soap residue. Clothes smell fresh, feel soft without fabric softener and towels are more absorbent! Another bonus is laundry never sours if you forget it in the washer overnight!

My wife is fond of the practice. She does laundry and I wash the dishes, so I know better than to complain about walking around smelling like a salad... A very soft, absorbent salad.

straight up, or mixed with water before you put it in the dispenser?
Doesn't the acid corrode the mechanism (valve or whatever)?

Has to be better than using nitric acid! That would make gun cotton. Don't want to tumble dry that stuff!

Dunno, walking around smelling like a salad doesn't sound that appealing to me.

It's actually a good thing, it slips the pet hair away and keeps the detergent from building up and getting stinky. It's only about pH 4 (distilled white vinegar), so it's not fuming glacial acetic acid or anything. The washer's parts are PVC and the drum is stainless, and the system already can handle detergent without issue. While she was figuring it out a few years ago, she might have used a bit too much compared to the amount of water our front loader uses. But there were days where I wondered if people around me detected it as much as I did.

Years ago when my kids were younger. My daughter got great pleasure in having me follow her into the perfume section.

Can't stand the smells.

The original leveling pads on the Clausing used a 5/8-18 stud and pad arrangement. Those were long gone by the time I got the lathe and had been replaced with bolts.
My plan was to use leveling casters but none exist that use 18 pitch thread and anything with a 5/8 stud was overkill capacity wise anyway.
Purchased some with a 3/8 stud and made adapters using 5/8 x 1 grade 5 bolt.
Faced and center drilled first

Then moved the bolt over to the mill to drill and tap.

Still have two to tap but looking like it will work out.
