POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

I bought my first caliper to measure a bolt so I could get a wrench to replace a clutch. 22mm. My first lesson in mixed fasteners. The plastic caliper is long gone, no recollection why. Still have the wrench.
I have several of these around the shop for non-critical measurements, like hardware or stock:

When I need more accuracy, I dig out this one:

A bucket of stuff from an auction buy included a clevis but no bolt.
Found an odd ball bolt from another bucket that was just slightly larger than what I needed for the pin.
Easy enough to turn the bolt down and thread it on the lathe. Then I decided that I wanted two flats milled on the "head".
Hmmm, no good way to hold it in the mill vise. Dug through yet another bucket and found a piece of scrap steel that I could make into a V block.
Some time in the shaper and then in the mill and it was good enough for simple loose tolerance jobs. Good practice for both machines.

If I had more money than time it probably would have been more efficient to just buy a new clevis, but what's the fun in that?

Working on a big project with a friend - he’s refurbishing a wood chipper rotor that had a worn seal area. He had already welded up the damage and it was my job to turn it back down to size. Don’t know the weight, but it bent the casters flat on my “2t” engine hoist :DIMG_5277.jpeg

That’s a CA tool post by the way!
