POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

Bonus points for a video while it's running! Don't do that, we don't want to see you mess up the floors. (That's what would happen to me!) Hope this setup does what you need.
:) Video would have increased the likelihood of a mess... lol...

Seems to be working... connections are not sealing well and it is getting some air. That it is not helping... but second bucket is done...

Yes, that's why I said don't video it. Might have been comical, though. Think three things sprouting leaks and two full hands, like Charlie Chaplin. Good that it's working out for you.

So the only stainless I had was an 1-1/4” round stock with a hole through it. I welded the hole on one end with a nickel rod I had. Well now it’s so hard I can barely cut it. Second one didn’t turn out nearly as nice as the aluminum one. I will need to source some stainless round bar as this isn’t working too well.
I also need to investigate why my part isn’t concentric in the chuck. Or maybe my chuck isn’t concentric to the rotary table.20230916_164717.jpeg

Did the filtration make your solvent any cleaner? I'd love to squeeze more life out of it, it's not the same $1/gal price it was the first time I bought it... @#$% inexorable persistence of time!

Was I able to get rid of dirt particles, yes... I was using a 5 micron sediment filter.

Did the color changed? Nope... looks just as dirty as you can see in that photo of the 5 gallon bucket...

I will install a new filter when I pump it back... but doubt it will make any difference in terms of the color... At least it will be debris-free.

Which begs the question of what new acquisition needs to be winched up onto the trailer?
That's for picking up that big old lathe I scored a week ago. I don't have to rush getting it, but I'd rather not let it sit longer than necessary...

Unfortunately there isn't an easy way to load it where it sits. So, dovetail trailer, a 'built' pallet, and some 1" pipe it is. I hope...

I've been reckoning on trying these things. That's right, reckoning. Too serious a subject for merely pondering.

For you solvent tank guys. I had a friend years ago that always put a gallon or two of water in his tank and elevated the pump above the water. The solvent floats on the water but the sediment would separate and fall to the bottom which kept the good stuff cleaner, so I was told.

I'm looking for a less toxic solvent. Any ideas?

My solvent tank is empty, and I have been using this Citrus smelling stuff that works pretty well. It evaporates pretty fast, so I just use a little at a time in a pan.

Zep has detergent based cleaners in spades. They also have less toxic caustic cleaners. And citrus. There are a couple of different chemistries depending on how you want to roll it, but they have the safer alternative bases covered. Warming is required for some. Check their site out, I probably killed an hour there today. The SDSs show they're primo blends of the usual suspects from the most effective cleaning products we are already familiar with.
