Mini Mill chamfers out of square....or not?

So. Your block is 2.000 inches long.
You cut the first chamfer to the size you wanted.
Now you moved the mill axis exactly 2.000 and cut the second chamfer.
Result: chamfers not same size.

Please correct any of the statements that are incorrect.

If they are all correct, you neglected the backlash in the lead screws.

Make an assumption, make a mistake.
 
Have you checked all the corners of the workpiece with a square to be sure both ends are square to the side that's against the fixed jaw of the vise? If the end is not square with the axis of travel, you will get an uneven chamfer like you got.

Cutting the first chamfer, say the left hand side, the tool is offset to the left. Move the table 2" the tool is still on the left of the edge where it should be on the right.
