Years ago HP released the firmware to their excellent scientific (and financial) calculators. You can readily download emulators, running the original firmware core, to any phone - just search by calc type. (e.g. "HP48")

I wore out 2 TI55's from the late 70's to the early 80's and around 83 I bought an HP15c. Still use it today. Quality stuff. The 4 key sometimes bounces so I have to be careful not to enter 44 when I want 4. However, I used the PC calculator for this.
Anyway, since you have a square root available, here is another solution to your math problem:
Fun fact: the keys on those old HP calculators had the markings *molded in* - you could literally sand the key to half thickness and the markings would still show. TI not so much...
