Awesome space! After I retired the end of 2016, we began looking for a replacement for the subdivision house where we had raised our two boys. Said boys being out of college, employed and living on their own, we closed the Bank of Dad and started looking for land or a suitable home/shop outside of town for just the two of us. In 2018 we finally found 2 1/2 acres , and built our forever home and shop. The three car garage on our old house was stuffed - 10 pounds of candy in a 5 pound bag. So I call the new shop the Ten Pound Garage.

The room next to the machining area was originally garden storage, with a 8x8 garage door. But the gardener (aka SWMBO) outgrew the space, so she now has a 10x20 in the back yard. So I cut the door through and that room is the "dirty" room with the grinders, band saw, belt sander and press, along with some storage.
Is that a Locost I see there? After I retired the end of 2016, we began looking for a replacement for the subdivision house where we had raised our two boys. Hi John, close but no - it's a Birkin. (A replica of a mid-1960's Lotus Seven for those of you who don't recognize it.) Manufactured in South Africa, it came as a rolling chassis (everything but engine and gearbox) or a complete frame with the aluminum and fiberglass body panels attached. I built mine in 2001 from the basic frame kit. It came with all the suspension components (except springs and shocks), rear axle, brakes, steel lines for brakes and fuel, and a wiring harness. I sourced the rest locally, or made what I couldn't buy. It has a stock Ford Zetec from a Focus mated to a '94 Miata gearbox, and weighs about 1220lbs. Fun ride....
"10 pounds of candy in a 5 pound bag" We call that a "blivet".... But generally speaking it ain't full of candy.... LOLAwesome space!
