Lathe solid tool post mount thoughts

Today, for the first time since using the solid tool post mount, I needed to part off a piece of 1/2" diameter steel.

The cutter moved through the material like a hot knife through butter. No bucking, screeching, just a quick, clean parting.

Astonishing difference compared to the OEM compound.

A solid toolpost is like making your lathe 20% bigger.

The difference in parting alone make it well worth while.
My top slide is very rarely put back and with a sharp bit threading at 90' is also never a problem.
