Kurt DX4 or Tegara 550V vise for new PM-833TV?

This is how I set my vise on the table, it open wide enough that it covers the table. My table is actually 9.5" wide for a bit of scale.

I was incorrect, I have 4" clear between the column and the table with almost 2" of overhang on the quill centerline. That is what happens when you pull up memories....

I looked closer at my parallels and they are indeed 6", I simply move them from side to side as required.

I measured mine and when the table as far back as possible the back edge is 1.350” from the column. The center of the spindle is then 3” from the front of the table.

When the table is fully forward the center of the spindle is .25” from the back edge of the table.

It looks like with the DX4 and the jaws on the outside I’d be able to cover the entire Y axis travel unless I’m mistaken?

DX4 vs 550V vs DX6 on a size accurate representation (including slots) of the PM-833TV table and where I'd probably put the vises.

The STEP files for the vises came from manufacturers websites.

The DX4 is downright tiny!!

Nice. I have 2 of the DX6 because, get some!

Not trying to convince you to get any particular vise. Just trying to point out that a too big vise isn't that useful. Get one that "fits" your mill. By that I mean it works within the envelope that your mill allows. For dinky stuff, you can clamp a toolmakers vise in the big vise, or just mount the toolmakers vise direct to the table. I have about a 7 x 24" table and I find a DX4 is about right. If you have a bigger table, then you can use a bigger vise.
Agreed. I have a D60 (DX6 ancestor) that looks big on a Bridgeport 9x42 table. It would be too big on any smaller table.

And a toolmaker’s vice is a handy way to turn a workpiece at right angles to a mill vise.
