Anyone heard of these? I recieved one with my Atlas 618 purchase. It looks to have a MT2 taper shaft and my tail stock is a MT1. It is a keyless chuck so I would like to use it. I cant seem to get the taper piece to seperate from the chuck. How do you do that???

Depends......some are taper mount, some are threaded. Look for marks on the chuck body. Either thread spec or Jacobs taper normally. One unscrews, sometimes with a LH screw from the inside to lock it, but the taper locks in pretty good and you should use a pair of wedges made for removal of Jacobs taper mounts.

Can you post a pic and is there any model number makings on it?

I will get pictures of the drill chuck tomorrow and post.

Judging just from what I can see I think the arbor is taper mounted in the chuck and as a previous poster mentioned you'll probably need the correct sized Jacobs wedges to remove it. I see a groove around the arbor near the chuck and that's what leads me to believe that. Someone may speak up with other solutions but I've had to do the same . Is case you've not seen them....I've included this link. These just press in from opposite sides and the chuck (usually) will pop right off.

That is a 33 Jacobs taper mount (33JT marking). Wedges are the proper way to remove it.
