Jet 5"x6" Bandsaw

I just called Ellis, they don't make the 1200 any longer. The 1600 is $3995.00. Just a tad out of my price range.

Sorry to hear the model 1200 is no longer available. If you're not averse to used equipment there's a Kysor Johnson machine on the Seattle Craigslist with an asking price of $500.00. If you're interested, I would get in touch with the seller. These are good saws made in the US. There were a few at our local technical college I used when I took some evening classes there a few years ago.

There are also some Jet and Carolina saws listed. I believe the Jets are all from a dealer. I would stay away from the Carolina. While they're made in the US, they don't have that good a reputation. They are the low end of commercial saws, often need "modifications" out of the box, and have poor parts availability

Thanks for the link to the Kysor. I'm not opposed to buying used but I have a small shop and I need to be able to move the saw around and out of the way when not in use. The 800 lbs Kysor is just too much for that task. I did see that there are couple of Jet machines listed on Craigs list over on the West side of the state. I'll check them out If there still there in a month.

I know I said eventually Iwas going to buy a saw, but thanks to my wife it happened pretty quick.

To quote my wife "What are you waiting for? The price to go up another $500 bucks. Just order the one you want"

So here it is in the crate when we brought it in the shop with my wife in the background acting up.

And another uncrated, cleaned and test cut complete.

That;'s the exact same one I bought when I retired 10 years ago.
So far, so good
You are gonna get a lot of use out of that
I modified the wheels on one end and added a pair of swivels for easier parking when not in use.
TIP: Split a piece of 3/4" heater hose and lay it on/over the chip tray edge below the blade so the drops won't beat the paint all off in that spot.

Thanks for the pro tip!

On the 31st of this month I will be retired for 8 months and enjoying every minute of it.

Have you been wondering yet just how in the world did you ever have time for a job??!!

Yep, it sure is nice to start working on a project and not have to worry about getting it done knowing I can finish the next day. The first couple weeks was a little odd getting used to that, but I'm settled into pretty well now.

Tim

Use it once in a while if I have bigger stuff to cut or a lot of cuts to make.
I really don't know what the stuff is as my neighbor gave me a pop bottle full of it fro where he used to work. It mixes 50/50 with water.
Makes a big mess actually. much easier to clean up dry chips.
And it wants to rust in the tray if you don't keep ahead of it...
Which reminds me.............
