Most are 1/2" balls, 5/16" from the flange to the center of the ball and 9/16" to the top. There are a bit over 100 pcs.

I set aside 15 for my friend.

I had a few already but I have not done any jobs yet that required tooling balls. I think they are a really clever way to locate xyz on a fixture or part. I can't wait to try them out.

What are some more common uses for tooling balls?

I made a floating chamber reamer holder years ago that had a ball opposite the end of the reamer. In this way the reamer could be pushed, and the ball would allow the reamer to align to the bore or partially bored chamber. I jumped through some hoops to braze a ball bearing into my fixture. After sharing that project online someone else pointed out tooling balls to me, which would have simplified things considerably...

I would say you DO ! Used tooling balls to pick up holes in fixtures before loading the parts onto them . Most of these parts were composite moldings for the drones we made . The balls do come in handy when needed , so keep a few different sizes in your stash . :encourage:

Nice score. You have to have a lot of balls to make a post like that.

I've got more balls than I'll ever use. I'm considering seeing if the local tech school would want some as a donation. I hate to keep so many when they might do some good.
