Is this lathe worth $1800? 1952 - 53 Logan - Wards Powr-Kraft

If you do get it. Here is another source for Logan info.

It is run by Scott Logan of Logan lathes.

Cutting oil is my blood.

If it was a new import many would spend at least that much without batting an eye. Here you have what looks to be a very clean American Made rebadged Logan that I personally would pay/buy this lathe any day.
Look over this forum at the guys buying brand new machines for more money and are dealing with many issues.
I would grab a nardini if I were going to an industrial environment but the Logan is in better condition and more suitable for a home/hobby shop.
Logan parts are easier to come by and are easier to work on.

Load it up safe and bring it home. Always good to buy from a knowledgeable seller who's had the machine for a while.

The IO Logan board mentioned above is good, lots of good Logan stuff, moderated by Scott Logan.

@tominboise, you've been looking a long time. Hope you can bring this one home.

Sitting in my garage as I type this. I really appreciate all the information and support on this board. I ended up paying full price for the machine but that included a rotary table and a sine bar for my milling machine. Lots of extra pieces of material to practice with, tooling bits, etc. A tool post grinder (not a Logan - I haven't really looked at it that much), taper attachment, etc.

Now I have to figure out what bench set up I need. Right now it's sitting on a wooden bench and a wooden skid. Might just buy a tool box with a wood top and start there. Not really decided yet.

Nice, sometimes when you don’t haggle you end up with a better deal.

I’d run it on the stand it’s on until you have the means to do better. Unless you are turning long pieces alignment shouldn’t be an issue.
