Is this lathe worth $1800? 1952 - 53 Logan - Wards Powr-Kraft

Here you go, I bet they would take $1,000 cash in a heartbeat plus they have forklifts on site to load it. If you are not too far they may even haul it home for you.

Whenever you see "Need to get rid of ASAP" to make room for a CNC machine that's opportunity knocking.

I've seen that machine but it's too big for my shop space. I need to build a bigger shop!

I had a 1942 Wards 10” lathe no QCGB. They are fine smaller lathes. I sold mine in Feb with only a 3 jaw chuck and the candle stick tooling for $750. It was in decent shape. I only had to replace the cross slide nut.

Not sure how prices are out your way. I would try for $1300 go to $1500.

That is a home made taper attachment. It looks just like the one I made for my SB9

Cutting oil is my blood.

It looks in good shape and is fairly well equipped, so if it fits you budget, go for it. You can try to bargain down and offer say $1,500.
Once you remove the chuck, motor tailstock, etc. Two strong guys should be able to lift it down to a dolly and back up onto a tailgate.
Good luck, and if you buy it, please post pictures once you get it set up!

I recently sold my Logan 820 (10x24), a bit older and smaller than yours but appeared to be in similar shape, with similar tooling but no steady rest, for $1800 on CL. I'm in NYC, not Boise, and it sold to a man in upstate NY within two weeks. My post about selling it is here, go back a couple of months. We had to disassemble it into components (TS, HS, motor, belt drive in structure, motor support, bedways, QCGB/lead screw) to get it out of my shop and into the buyer's pickup, but it was an easier job than I imagined. I had gotten supportive comments about my first price, which was $2500; I was in a hurry, though, and when I dropped it to $1800 it went fast. Your market is different than mine, both plus and minus, but that number still feels pretty good.

I'd be all over that for $1800 or less if the seller will deal.

I am going to see it this afternoon. I will be taking a trailer and cash with me. It belongs to a man who retired running the model shop for a local tech company and some other machine shop businesses. It hasn't been run for awhile but according to him the ways and leadscrew etc are all in good shape.
