It isn't. There are inexpensive UV laser pointers now, and when I got one the first use
was on several welding goggles and masks; all of 'em blocked that beam completely.
I trust the clear-looking glass as UV filter, because I verify.
Yes, I was looking to see if replacements were available. Not so far. That bubble shield will likely be discarded when it gets scratched up. There is a regular protective lens under it and a spare came with.
The headlamp is a nice touch. I bought some rechargeable work lights that I've started using when welding, and the extra light makes a big difference. Probably a bigger difference than going from a cheap ($90) no name auto dark hood to a better Lincoln auto dark hood.
About 6 months ago I bought a cheap $15 hood with sane light from Ali express. Figured for that money, why not.
It has become my go to helmet, vs the $350 21 year old Speedglas auto darkening helmet I have. Between its light weight, and able to see the puddle better, is is definitely worth the price I paid for it. Now, hopefully I can find some replacement clear covers for it someday.
But it does not seem to change when doing light amp tig work. So speedglas isn’t off the hook permanently.
Way back in 2016, when I got my $50 Lincoln AC225, I bought the cheapest most economical auto-darkening hood I could find on Amazon. I paid $20. It got little use until I got my TIG welder in 2018, when I started using it fairly regularly. Aside from not accepting a cheater lens with some modification, it's been perfect. Never failed to darken, never went dead, never had to replace the battery. Seeing all the large lens, natural color hoods available, and having a little money to burn, I started casually looking around. A couple of weeks ago, I found a deal I couldn't pass on Temu.
It's not the large window, but it is natural color. The LED lamp is a nice touch, has spot and flood, is extremely bright and rechargeable (even came with USB cable). It also does not accept cheater lenses, but I'll do the same thing I did with my old one. The headgear is light but I was able to adjust it properly and it seems to retain the adjustments. I used it to do a little stick welding outdoors today and it functions perfectly. For $40 I am quite impressed.
I looked at the Miller helmets and several others and then I looked at HF at the Vulcans and I bought one of those which has the larger lens and I like it very well.

Playing with cheap UV lasers sounds worse than playing nighttime dodgeball on the freeway with lawn darts instead of bouncy balls. Or maybe smoking while filling gas cans in a pickup with a static charged drop in bed liner during a thunderstorm. You know what I mean...
