I hand hold and quench and have never had a problem with Rex 'aaa' (which conventional wisdom says not to quench). I really don't think it's a problem unless you're holding in a fixture and letting the bit get really hot between dips.
I know this thread kind of died off but I spent a couple hours last night going through my hss and looking what I could up in the document posted here. As ot turns out I have got some pretty nice pieces. Got some Rex aaa, mo-max and Latrobe crusaders also. Just started bidding on some lots on eBay as recommended. Thanks for all the insight into hss. Looking forward to learning how to grind these things as well
