Well I was close! I knew it was B&S something or other. It has a b&s # 9 taper. It came with a set of collets and a couple different tools that hold small collets and large ones. Idk what they are called. Lol

Small world, I know a lot of guys who worked there, yes they did massive tools and cranes. I was told at one time the gate valves in the Hoover dam were manufactured in that plant. Idk if it’s true but very cool if so.Dave is on it!!
I'd pitch that vise AND the RT and focus on the bed FIRST!
You should be able to find a decent used KURT for not too much $$.
Dixon, IL huh?
I used to haul a LOT of huge valves out of the Henry Pratt plant there in the 80's & 90's
They had some HUGE machine tools in that place!
Also what is RT?Dave is on it!!

Looks like that's what is under the vise in your pictures, rotary table for the vise. Also what is RT?
Ahh, rotary table got it. I think that’s part of the vise, I could be wrong. No their Dixon facility closed and was sold. They still have a plant in aurora, IL last I knew.Looks like that's what is under the vise in your pictures, rotary table for the vise.
I'd take it off regardless as you will need the extra space it occupies many times.
Is the Pratt plant still there?
They had another facility in Gary, IN IIRC, I loaded there a few times as well
Yes, I loaded there quite often as well.Ahh, rotary table got it. I think that’s part of the vise, I could be wrong. No their Dixon facility closed and was sold. They still have a plant in aurora, IL last I knew.
ouch. . . Here I am carefully setting precision ground stuff on the edge of my mill table and sliding it on to avoid even the slightest of dings and they were hammering on this one. . . I guess this is to be expected in a shop that not really machine shop, but rather a maintenance room.took another look and the vise is separate from the rotary table. I also spend about 5 min with a scotch bright and some wd40, I think the table will clean up pretty nice. I uncovered quite a few more dings and dents. Table must have been been a dual purpose anvil.View attachment 516294
Pretty sad sight for sure.ouch. . .
