Help finding a Vertex VKC-8 chuck

That should clean up nicely. If it's not worn out should be a good deal for a Buck. It looks like it's just been sitting around for a while & not used much.

Thanks!

I got it for $117 shipped so hopefully it’s in as good of shape as it appears to be.

I’d still like to find the Vertex I posted about just because.

I’m probably going to grab that aluminum adapter plate for the 6” Vertex 3-jaw as well even though I’d rather it was steel but that doesn’t seem to be an option and I’m striking out on finding a piece of 8” steel on eBay to make my own.

That's a great deal, nice score!

Yeah an 8" dia piece of steel suitable for a backplate would usually be pricey unless it was an off cut or scrap or something. I started out with a cast iron blank chuck backplate. But these days prices have gone up a lot on stuff like this too. Cast iron would be more ideal for a backplate but for a RT not entirely necessary. Cast iron is messy to machine so just avoiding that may be worth it.

$117 for an 8" Buck ? Even for a 4 jaw , You stole it and should be arrested . My little 6" 3 jaw sold for $425 on the bay .

I’m new enough at this that I just wasn’t sure if it was worth it. I guess it was…nice!!

If Buck or Hardinge is on the tool , it's not cheap . Along with many others ! You'll learn the quality pieces over time .

Just so you know, we have an emoji just for cases like this & you deserve one!
:you suck:

(BTW, it's not a bad thing)
LOL , that's the truth ! Jamie , here's how Will and I have found to get top dollar when selling **** ! For the mere price of $9.99 , this instantly triples the value of whatever you're selling . Just a tip from a couple of pros . :p:D

What about this for making a backing plate for the 6” Vertex?

Do I need to go thicker?
