Firing pin steel selection

I think I got it about perfect. It doesn't ding the shoulder of the chamber if it's dry fired and it doesn't interfere with the cylinder when it's rotated. However I think the end that gets hit by the hammer needs to be a few thousandths longer because it doesn't imprint the round as deeply as I am accustomed to and I don't want to risk hang fires.
Here's a picture installed from the hammer side. 20240404_211910.jpg
And one from the cylinder side with the hammer raised. 20240404_211938.jpg

And here's a couple of the test shell. 20240404_212428.jpg20240404_212424.jpg
P.s those pictures were taken over my aquarium because I needed the good light.

A PID, relay, and a type-K should cost about $75. Then, you've got yourself a heat treat furnace!
Yep I'm so excited I could jump up and down like a little kid that just ate ice cream right now! I hadn't even thought to look on Facebook but I was just scrolling Facebook on one of the local groups I'm in and somebody posted a bunch of metal for free they're just trying to clean out the shop at a new house they bought and I see that thing in there so I messaged them as quick as I could and said I'll give you 50 for it because I don't want somebody else to get it.

I just got home and ohmed out the coils and they are intact! It just keeps getting better!

Well I made a probably final version.
I made it out of 4140 that was pre hardened to Rockwell C25 according to McMasters. I am wondering if that's hard enough?
