Extend Y-axis handle on 833TV?

Nice job on the extension and way covers.

I have the same machine and didn't like the limit switches at all, so I swapped them around with separate switches at each end of the table and small stops on the y bed. The Y travel now stops when the bed hits the handle - I gained the width of the old limit switch. I'm not sure how much more travel I could get with an extension similar to yours and until now I hadn't considered that option - but you have me thinking...

I still need to sort out way covers and I like your solution.

I've attached a photo of my limit switch fix. The new switches are in the enclosures mounted to the front tee slot, the stops are the aluminium blocks beside the gib clamps. Please excuse the mess on the machine. I promise I'll clean it up soon.

If you look at my pictures, you will notice that the way cover bellows material is mounted below the limit switch. The travel is going to be limited by the switch OR by the minimum (closed) size of the way cover, whichever is greater.

While I'm not a fan of the limit switch and it's absurdly large size, it no longer limits my travel since the compressed bellows is thicker than the limit switch.

That is why I went with such a long extension, Different machine too.

I do see that your switch is no longer an issue. I still need to sort out a way cover sometime and will consider an extension similar to your solution then.

Good idea and nicely executed.

McMaster Carr has a good selection on accordian covers.
