Gets me that USA built motor with a brake....

The price seems pretty good, but man that thing is long. If your grinder pivots 90 degrees, it may need to be up on stilts to clear the base surface!
Not worried, figure I can take the brake off if it's a problem....

John:

A couple of years ago you and others had great input on helping me deal with the failed motor on my 2X42.

Based on that input, I ended up going with a 3/4HP 3450RPM vintage Craftsman motor. I took it off of an old jointer, but as you know and as others have said, those old Craftsman motors (and others) are all over CL and Ebay.

That replacement motor works great on my 2X42, FWIW.

That motor looks like it could be a drop-in replacement on my Burr King, BUT the BK goes to 2500 rpm (variable). My Ellis uses a 3450rpm motor. I'm thinking 1725rpm might be slower than optimal.

I'm fairly ignorant about motors, but I've read that induction motors are preferred if using a VFD, though not required. I don't know if the ones posted above are induction (my ignorance) or how relevant it is for your application, but I thought I'd throw it out there if it helps.
