Shopping for an electric motor for the 2 x 72 belt grinder I bought a while back. I'm pretty sure I want a 1700 - 1800 rpm 56C 2hp 3 phase but I'm a little torn on what one to get. Obvious, just buy a USA made Baldor and call it done.... Well, I'm not about to get another $800 into this project (paid $200) for machine without a motor.

Kinda narrowed it down to this Dayton (Mexico) from Zoro for $325

And this Hallmark Industries on eBay for $230

Does anybody have experience with Hallmark? Any reason not to spend the extra $95 on belts?

Thanks,

John

I brought home a couple motors tonight . All are Baldors . I'll see what is out in front yard as that's where they ended up . Motors are good . Output shaft my be worn . .022 cents at the scrap yard . Easy to fix when your on your own time , but scrap to companies . I find it easy $$$$$$ .

Let me know what you've got, don't mind putting a little work into something if the price (and shipping) are right....

Their trash is my treasure . Working 6 days a week , 13 hrs a day filling in for injured people , vacation relief , lack of mechanics , no machinists that really do what we need , I come home tired . 13 hr today which was my day off . I bought my cheap beer . I'm listening to my old country radio station out of Pa. winding down . Tomorrows plans are to cut up and remove 14' solid oak beams from the parking lot at work . They put in a work order for a facililties guy to get rid of it . He asked if I was interested . Uh , yeah . I'll be over with a chainsaw tomorrow and I need one of the long beams . Firewood for the rest of the year . As far as the Hawiaan connection , Mike knows what is going on . Nothing is moving out other than a mill , as soon as I get the damn garrage door open . :(

Man Dave… thought you were winding down at work?!?
Dude…. Take care of yourself!!!

14 foot oak beams?!? That sounds very useful and $$$??? Just going to cut them up and burn them?

I need to get down for some cheep beer soon…. After the arctic weather…..
I’ll help you sort and move stuff!!!

Lesson, American made
I can say that the Mennonite businesses around here that repair AC motors are big fans of Lesson…. Marathon is decent but not as highly praised. Those seem to be the 2 go to brands

(Edit to say I personally have limited 1st hand knowledge, so it’s just hearsay lol)

Once again , a small of effort will heat the house and I need a full length beam for a project . You've been here , we love  future project materials . These beams are just too nice to burn . we'll cut them up to what I need and burn the rest . Yeah , winding down . 13 hr days . WTH ?

12 am and your Pa. I 105 time machine broadcast is almost over . One more cheapie and I'm heading in . Everybody is always welcome at the inn .
