Clamping Aluminium Plate

To avoid scratching the plate you need something that is softer than the AL plate. Stir sticks, popsicle sticks, plastic strips, are a few options.
Aluminum strips are the same hardness ans what you are trying to protect, the can and plate will dent equally.

Some good double sided tape to fasten down on a nice flat piece of material. Preferably a piece of aluminum. You will be shocked as to how well that holds. I have used this untold times. Simple and fast.
