Ok folks all of you have went above what i expected when i first started.
I've decided to go a little bigger overall. I'm gonna go with a 3/4 inch tool versus a 1/2" body and 3/8 shank. It will be 3/4 body and 1/2 shank.
So now i'll need a insert to fit.
So in the original TPGH215....i think i have to have a T in the 1st spot and would like a H in the 4th spot, a 3 or 4 in the 5th spot and 1/8 thick in the 6th spot. The rest are open.
So
T_ _ H(3 or4)2 _
TPGH 2 1 5
If that makes sense, any input or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to turn the cone to 50-55 degrees then set the insert at a little over the cone at 60 degrees. I'll mill a inset in the tool that fits the insert and drill and tap a matching hole. I'll also make a coned cap, drilled and tapped to fit over the top of the insert just as an extra measure. The insert will be proud .020 or so and the cone cap made to accomadate it
