Can’t adjust arm on DTI

Ah yes, cheap, regional brew. In the early 70’s I was introduced to Kreuger: you had the be careful not to poke a hole in the can with your finger it was so thin. Then Reingold Chug-a-Mugs, Falstaff and one of my favorites - 16 oz. Narragansett.

Well, long story sort - I finally got it broke loose.

Long story long- I soaked it in mineral spirits for a bit, but it didn’t seem to help. Then I went to fiddling with it and loosened the pivot screw. Only I accidentally took the screw all the way out and the linkage that connects the arm with the internals became disconnected on the inside. :oops2: Figuring I was committed now, I opened up the side plate to have a look. When I did, a random spring fell out of somewhere I didn’t see. Jeez, this just keeps getting worse.

At this point a little voice in my head was telling me to stop digging and just send this thing somewhere to have it repaired. I told the voice to shut up and pressed on. Since it was loose anyway, I pulled the arm and linkage out and was able to get the arm to pivot finally. Now I just had to figure out how to put it back together. Luckily, Long Island Indicator has a parts diagram that was helpful. It even had a footnote that explained about the overtravel buffer spring that always falls out when you open the cover! I got it all back together and now it works like it should.

Now I need a beer!:beer mugs:
