Barrel fluting

Thanks Killswitch505 and derf. Appearance and functionality, I like it. It does look pretty awesome.

have you tried before and after fluting to see how it shoots
This was the first barrel I’ve fluted and it was for a new build. My dad wants to flute a barrel on one of his existing rifles. hopefully we’ll see some before and after. I have owned fluted and unfluted rifles and both have been types hammers running the right loads.

I think I’m getting this fluting thing down!!!!! Went from about 3-4 hours to 70 minutes start to finish the DIY fog buster really sped things up.

The more you do, the quicker it'll get. I fluted one Thursday, took about 45 min.
I think I need to work on my feed rates I was running about 1400 rpm surface speed of 4 I could probably crank that up to 8 I had absolutely no heat on my tool or the barrel what are you running?

I run 360 rpm @ 5 ipm. My cutter is 1.950 in dia., and has 12 carbide teeth. I blow the cool mist in from the back side and pick it up with a shop vac on the front. Keeps things from getting foggy and messy.
