OK, I retract my statement about minimum lengths.
SpeedMetals DOES sell by the inch (actually fractions of inch).
As of this morning it looks like 6 inches of 1-1/2"x3-1/4" is $49.15.

So it is attainable. Thanks for making me double check!

I bought two pieces of cast iron from Speedy Metals. One was for a backplate for my ER40 set tru chuck, another for a different project. Very pleased with the quality of the cast iron I received. Both pieces were defect free. I ordered only as much as I needed. A foot of 5" diameter cast iron would be quite expensive, but the 2" piece was priced ok.
