2021 POTD Thread Archive

After few days of being very busy i finally had the night off, so i continued on the blue 206. First i reinstalled the back tires, dropped it down on the ground and install the exhaust. After that i fired it up now quiet and left it to run. With it running i decided to charge the A/C. First i vacuumed the system down, let the refrigerator motor run for more than an hour to remove as much of the air form the system. Then closes the valves and watched the needles for half an hour. It held the vacuum so i charge it. This small car takes more refrigerant than both Skoda's. Now with working A/C i loaded it up with all the tools i had bring over and transported them back to the big garage you can see how soft the suspension is it squatted down from couple of my tools inside. I unloaded it and began installing front wings and the hood. With them installed i called it, took a shower and went to work, it turn it to an all nighter.IMG_20210823_212602.jpgIMG_20210823_212621.jpgIMG_20210823_213429.jpgIMG_20210823_215100.jpgIMG_20210824_191924.jpgIMG_20210824_203315.jpgIMG_20210824_203324.jpg

The stitching on the outside of one of my old Georgia work boots fell apart a while back. It didn't bother me until I started working in the dirt again. I ordered The Speedy Stitcher, and what a cool tool it is! I only stabbed my finger once, but it's all fixed. The wife asked me why I didn't take it to the shoe guy. After 31 years of marriage, you'd think she'd know me better. :)

Instead of putting my new cutters away that i bought last weekend i had to deal with this kaka

No damage this time. Last time we lost power and it was like 3 inches

I get the same thing every two or three years. Only after a prolonged period of solid rain (which we do get) the water can’t run off fast enough. Most everything sits on little risers or low pallets so after a day or two it dries up. Annoying though., it always seems to happen right when you want to be doing something else.

Yup pretty much what happens to us. Hard heavy rain and it cant drain so it seeps in. We are gonna dig the corner of the house up to find the main drain and reroute it. The old drain is pretty much non existent.

Small amount of water used to get in my big garage, where the builders has leaved 1/2 x 1 inch pieces of wood to spaced their forms for concrete, had to dig them out and used some silicone for concrete fill them and no more water inside even on very long rain days, but i also have french drain all around the foundation. Try filling the cracks with some silicone.

Yesterday i got the call white elephant No: 2 is on the side of the highway won't run, wont crank" please deal with it". When i hear that i know it wasn't anything good. So with a friend went there had to use the gps tracker to find it and the engine was locked up, battery almost died, front bumper was caved in, in the middle small puddle of black oil in the middle. So attached a tow rope and towed it home, this was during my work hours so i had to get back to work but before i decided to open the inspection pit and this is what i found WoW, Wow. The oil pan was cracked open and the crank and con rods are cocked you can see there is no oil on them only oil ash.
