I posted this project a while ago and then I decided to bling it up a little. This is the first time I've done engine turning, I used a hardwood dowel and valve lapping compound.
I work in the Film Industry and ALL of my tools live in my 36' Great Dane trailer when not on a show. It's not uncommon to work on 3 different projects a year. I have seen way too many things dumped with a pallet jack so everything gets casters.
The 20" Wilton weighs 650 ish and is top heavy. The rear wheels are 6" and will lift about 2.5". The front wheel "hoop" doubles as a forklift pocket and keeps the casters tied together. The rear frame extends past the belt housing by 1/2" and is just wider than the drill, this allows me to strap it to the wall in either orientation. I installed tabs that tie the column to the box after the picture was taken.
I picked up an Enco 16ga slip roll on my last show, it too needs wheels. I'm running out of room so I had to get creative. The legs are 2" into 2 1/2" tubing with 3/16" walls. I salvaged them from something that was being scrapped. Lift one end at a time with a floor jack, loosen the grub screws and the frame drops low enough to fit under my counter. I'm in the process of powering it with a 1/2 hp dc gear motor.
I also built a stand for my Swag tube roller, the roller fits in the stand for storage. The roller stand and my JD2 model 32 both fit under the slip roll for storage.
This was built this years ago, it all fits in the box for storage.
Tonight i pretty much finished organizing my reamers. Filled up my reamer index the most i could with what i had and then i had bought two plastic containers. One is for the short small reamers and the other i have to modify for longer reamers. I also bought some from JRaut so once the get here i can finish this little project. My next issue will be what is the best way to organize the over and under reamers. I am pretty much set from 1/8 to 1/2 now but need to figure out a good storage solution. I think i have to many to fit inside the plastic container. Picture i have right now. Can show more later on when i am finished.
I finished a little slitting saw arbor I've been working on. I took inspiration from Blondihacks' plans, although I made mine for 1" hole saws. I wanted it to fit in a ¾" R8 collet, so I ended up with this weirdo.
Here's a video of it spinning up:
There's a fair amount of runout there. I dunno if that's from my arbor or the saw, but it doesn't seem to matter much. The saw cut well and the yarn winder project is almost done now.
