Yes. This particular one went to another site and was plasma welded on a machine, but usually it is done on-site by hand. Our ace welder retired a few years back and his replacement didn't last very long. We have new blood coming in soon, but I hope we keep sending the bigger stuff like this out ... much less rework this way (cracking and porosity).That's a cool photo tour. So you guys just lay down beads of stellite and then turn it flat? That part looks great. I have seen on of those Bullyards in person- massive.

It is a DuraCoat Firearm Finishes coating. This particular coating actually has metal flakes in it, and is a two part epoxy type of coating. There are 4 coats of color and 4 coats of clear on that 1911. It takes 3 or 4 weeks for it to fully harden. After that it is like armor, and is very chemical resistant to everything except parts cleaner. Don't ask me how I know.What is the coating on that? I would never have considered anything but parkerizing, but now that I see that, I like it.
