2021 POTD Thread Archive

Today i cleaned up and degreased my countersink tools and drills from the toolbox i got last weekend. I need to figure out a good way to store these countersinks. I want to separate by angle but i am still thinking of a storage idea i could do.

Brento, I use a piece of wood drilled with a bunch of holes the size of the shanks. Not super fancy but it makes it easy to find the one you want.

here's a little project. A friend is doing up a '56 F100 for some guy and needed 4 bolts to attach the hood to the hinges. Two of the hinges were missing their inserts and the threaded holes in the hood were a size too big for the factory bolts he had. So I made these for him

the ones with the short and fat shoulders are for the drivers side hinge without the inserts.

Made an arbor out of the left over hex (reclaimed from a curb side paper shredder find :)) to face off the bolts to length

edit: got paid ($50) and helped my friend instal the hood on my ride home from work

Thinking of securing the stop switch in that location. I have been using it there and workflow-wise, seem perfect. Right now is just resting on the countertop, but thinking about bolting it down.

Added the multiple outlet on the side of the bench. I only have one plug that comes from the ceiling. So needed a way to connect the magnifying lamp, power supply for the RPM display, when I need to use the shop vac, etc.

And lastly, the lathe was making a weird noise when running... could not pinpoint the source... decided to replace the belt and that noise went away...

EDIT: Forgot the video!

One handed even! It must be a relief to get rid of that sound.

It was. Besides the sound becoming annoying, I was concerned it was a bushing, bearing, or something more serious... So very happy when I discovered it was just the belt...

Looking at the video reminded me that I have not made a cover for the RPM display electronics... Let me do that before I forget again...

Glad thats over with.
Poured the footings for the new shed, 17 bags of portland latter.
Poured the base Wednesday, stripped the forms yesterday and moved them up for a 6 inch knee wall.
Thank god for friends, had one stop in both days to give the young lad and I a hand.
Senior citizens should know beter than doing this lol

I didn't know they made mixers for tractors. Very cool! Still, that's a lot of hard work. Great job.
