Well I upgrade my big lathes toolpost clamping handle today. The old one wasn't good anymore because it was all warn out where the handle goes into the body and was planning to a stainless setup for a while now.

I made the body out of 1043 (EN8) and nickel plated it for rust prevention and the rest is made out of 304 stainless steel I had. I made handle longer than the previous one for a bit more leverage. The design is pretty basic but works well and feels good in hand.20200622_111128.jpg

Thanks for looking.

Wow! Nice job.

I managed to get my machine shop cleaned up, i had to use an angle grinder on the floor tiles to knock down the sharp edges. I still need to clean up my lathe it has foot prints all over it but now i can make parts again.

Made some bushings to fit inside my spindle bore and support smaller bar from wipping as I crank up the rpms.

Now my machine shop cleaned up i can get back to working, i needed a pin for the trailer hitch i made for the little niva, so i turn one on my lathe, started with 20 mm stressproof steel, turn it down to 16mm where i passed thru, chuck a drill in the chuck and the pin in a tool holder and drilled a cross hole for securing it and install a padlock on it i also drilled and painted the which i made so i can helpful take the small traler to the inspection station and get a licence plate on it.

Looks good goceku. I need to buy me one I finally installed the hitch in my new old truck.

Nice. You could also go with the spider idea if your spindle allows it. Then you could really clamp a variety of sizes stock if needed. Just an idea to keep in your arsenal.

Well i could make it work but the spindle bore is about 5 feet long so if I only support on the end it could cause problems. I actually was using 6 foot bars and had a foot hanging out and when the rpm went up to 2500 on a turning operation the bar looked like it was bending about 6” making a flailing cone. But as soon as I saw it I dropped the rpm to 2000 and it was fine.

My pressure washer died couple weeks ago, i've been putting off to see what is wrong with it, the motor is running but is not making any pressure. This evening i finally took it apart, because of the sound it made i was expecting something in the gearbox, took it apart all was fine. Then i started to unbolt the head of the pump, just as i cracked the second bolt Pow it exploded blow out water and oil at prity high pressure. Washed my face off and continued to find carnage, 2 of the 3 pistons wore stuck, the main bearing was shot, balls broken in half bearing races pitted also the piston seals must have been leaking to let that water in. Bad news, but now i know i'll be looking for a new pressure washer.
