I posted this today. I used to make these up to fund my kart racing back in the day. An old friend asked me to help him out so I made up a couple of sets for him.

Last two days i've put in a combined time of 20 hours working on the cooling system on the little niva, first started with attaching both electric fans together, then making the bottom mounts for them, and making the top mounts also, then come time to mount the ford sierra radiator, i decided to mount it higher and further back than originally, because of more direct flow of air, now i have to make air ducts for all sides, i mounted the bottom of the radiator on rubber stands and the top with rubber grommets, then came the tedious job of finding and making hoses to connect everything together, the top hose was tight also is the second highest point after the expansion tank, so i had to take out all my old and new radiator hoses and fittings and found this combination to be the best, the bottom hose is on the other side, so i decided to use a stainless pipe, i can make it work with couple of hoses but i'll weld up couple of bends and i'll need to weld in a bung for the temperature switch. I've also made a mess of the garage with all the radiator hoses and fittings.

Simple project for the madam. She wanted some bling on her car tag. So I was tasked with the project. Some all-thread, aluminum, 620 loctite, epoxy, and a trip to Hobby Lobby, I came up with this.

Had gotten a car off the sister in law a nice little Toyota mr2 spyder with a 5 speed manual. Like a little go kart. Got it for a steal only problem is the plastic headlight lenses are/were glazed over to where they barely shinned any light. Terrible material I see cars like this all the time.

I’ve done my fair share of car detailing in my days. So I took out some rubbing compound and the high speed buffer within minutes the headlight lense looks like this.
And after a couple coats of a silicone sealer which should hold off further hazing for awhile. Headlamps were 270 a piece so I think I done good.

I bought a new boring head with a set of brazed carbide boring bars, and center finder from Enco over 20yrs ago in anticipation of finding a mill, which took another 10 yrs to come to fruition. Today I finally got to put them to work. I've been working on rebuilding a Quincy 325 compressor from my dad's shop that went up on the shop wall some 60 yrs ago, and was a refurbished unit then. I got a rebuild kit for it which had some parts for the later pressure lubricated pumps, including a crankshaft input seal which mine did not have. Mine had no seal of any kind, but was bored to just over shaft size, with several grooves to direct the oil back to the crank case. After making sure the seal fit my crank, I decided to retrofit the end plate to accept the seal. The seal measured 2.2535 so I assumed the proper bore size would be 2.25. Loaded up the center finder, which reads to .0005 and dialed in the casting. Took a preliminary cut in back gear, lowest speed I could dial in and hand fed it to it's full depth of .375. It cut very nicely, so I adjusted the head for the final 2.25 and finished it off. The seal pressed in as it should, and fit the crankshaft perfectly. Simple little job, but I'm always amazed what a good time I have working on and with my machines. Life is good. Mike

Never know when you'll need that tool you bought years ago for a steal and then when you need it, you're glad you bought it then instead of now when you had to have it.
I've done that several times and the wife used to ask why are you buying that. I tell her it is a good price and you never know when you'll need it.
After a while she quit asking because she knew I'd eventually use it and after pointing it out to her and showing her the current price of said tool, she understood.
Now when she's out at the flea markets she'll call when she sees some obscure tool and ask if it's something I want.
Good woman. Only took 30 some years to train.
She's still working on me tho.

Cadillac, please tell me i'm not rubbing off with the Little (small) cars. The Mr2 is a good weekend toy, very hard to work on, i've changed couple of houses from hell on a mk1 turbo, also gearbox seal failure so i had to change the clutch, a friend made a joke about them, they should come with an option to purchase them with a 2 post lift because every job is an engine out job, i'll love to see what you do with it. As for the headlights i've found that 2k automotive clear coat seams to last longest, i've been using this method last 5-6 years, i send them down with 1200 grit sandpaper and put on a one coat of clear coat.
