I didn't wanna trash talk about your machine as you did, but I was thinking those same things lol.

I knew it was junk when I bought it. But it will serve my purposes. I can work within 0.001 even with a junky lathe. And that's typically the most precision I'll ever need anyway. But it's not going to repeat that accuracy dependably. The operator has to take great care to work that close. I couldn't afford a more accurate machine that was as versatile as this one. It's a nice little "Hobby Lathe".

I milled the wooden prototype for my tuner baseplate and then milled the pickup top plates for the guitar I am working on. Here is a quick and dirty mockup with a few of the pieces I've made so far (all pieces made by me):

That's a really interesting project you have their Ripthorne. Is that an adjustable bridge too? Looking forward to seeing this project as it progresses.

Bothe sets of the slides are now done next step is the Adjuster arms and the balls

My project for the week. I bought a new Ever Last Tig welder a few weeks ago and I built a cart for it and the cylinder. Made it to accommodate the cooler if I decided at a later date to buy one.
Disclaimer, this is not my design, I copied Jody's on Welding Tips and Tricks. No, I didn't tig the cart, used mig welder. Never used a tig machine in my life, this is going to be a whole new experience.

Yes, the bridge is adjustable. Once I get my new end mill, I will finish the tuner base plate (the wooden thing). Coming along nicely, but still plenty of work left to do.

Nice job on the Tig Welder cart Bob. I worked with both tig and mig many years ago. With a tig torch you can really do finally detailed work. That's a really nice machine you got there.

Got the LED strip light installed. The little wedge mounts worked pretty good. I was concerned it might be too bright and distracting, but the 30* angle worked well for my hight.


Not too noticeable when off.


My tired eyes like the new lighting.
Drilled a small hole in the back splash, installed a grommet and passed the wire. The new system Mark's working on will have a power supply for the 24VDC task light and strip.
The mounts where drilled/tapped to 8-32 and secured through from the back side for a clean look.
