2016 POTD Thread Archive

Here's a job a did this week, I have a bunch of pictures but I'll share a few unless anyone is interested in more. The parts go to a concrete form machine, requirements were knife edges, 2"x1" 15.5 long, 1018 steel.
My friend first squared the block it started as and then sawed it length wise at around 26 deg. His mill doesn't nod so he passed the remainder of the job to me. I setup two Kurt's and indicated them, nice my vise was only .001 lower on the bed, the serial numbers are quite different. Vises trammed, I stacked the gage blocks and trammed the quill travel. Loaded a part and face milled it down with the mitsubishi asx445. Love that tool. Swapped parts face milled, then drilled and tapped 5 1/4-20 holes for the fixture, then bolted the fixture to the part and removed the kurts, bolted and indicated the fixture, face milled to size, then ran an end mill down the back side. Rinse and repeat. The job was a complete sucess. 7hrs. ALOT of setup time, used my mitutoyo digital protractor to get it close.

Nothing I can do about the red x thing. That's between Tapatalk and the forum admins. But you can still just click "reply" and view the images, then cancel the reply. It's an annoying workaround, but a very simple one.

I suspect there is some fairly simple setting or database entry of some sort that didn't make it to the new server. Note that you aren't getting a browser-default "this image doesn't exist" icon (which usually looks like an embossed rectangle), but rather a replacement image inserted by either XenForo (more likely) or Tapatalk (less likely). Quoting it makes the image appear, so obviously the image was correctly uploaded and is fully accessible on Tapatalk's server.
