Oh man, I think mine is bent too! Damn, I think I might also have a very slight bed twist issue as well! :dunno: :lmao:

Make your own deburring tool , grind up a broken industrial hacksaw blade or a twist drill or a bit of square tool steel or an old lathe tool to whatever shape you fancy , make a handle for it out of plastic etc. if you feel like it. Ground up old worn out cast steel hand files are also good for it and for making long scrapers .

I need a grinder too :-)

Pictures worth a thousand words...

Working by myself today, so needed a little vintage help.

BP under refresh is a 1963 US Navy J-Head, Uncle Sam kindly left out in the rain for a year or three before they let me buy it.

Being inspired by a recent picture, I installed a paper towel holder in my shop.
My wife didn't want one like it in the kitchen...Why, I don't know.:dunno:

Worked on my ER40 Collet Chuck today. All that's left it to thread the nose and get the nut for it.

would you please show/post how you made your ER 40 collet chuck
tks ed

I started with a 3.5" long piece of 2.5" Solid round 12L14.
Step drilled thru the center to 1"
Drilled, reamed then bored just one end to accommodate the 1-1/2" x 8 TPI of my spindle.
Threaded with Internal threading bar. After threads are checked, I threaded it on to the spindle, cutoff to 3.2" length and started turning the piece down to 2 3/8" for 2" of length and 2 1/8" for the Final 1.2" of length.
Drilled 2 holes opposite each other 3/8" deep, 7/16" dia. for bar to tighten and remove from spindle.

For doing the taper for the collet, I watched a couple of you tube videos made by doubleboost that explained how to do it and setting up to bore the taper.
After setting up, I used my boring bar and when I got close I stopped often and tested collet to make sure I didn't go to far.
So far that is where I am at. I just got the extra gears in the mail to do the Metric threading so I will probably be working on that sometime this week.
Still waiting on the ER40 Nut to come in the mail. I hope to have it before I start threading the chuck.

Sam,

Use this for the grey on the tractor hood and doglegs: PPG Delstar DAR 31657

Finished working on the 1/2" Boring and Threading Bar holder.
Needed it for the new carbide threading bar I picked up from Mesa tools.
It does Internal and External threading.
The holder works real good and is solid.
