We use the detail gun that has a very short and simple paint path that we can strip and clean quickly in just a couple minutes.
We reuse our cleaning solvent so minimal cost there.
To load the gun we use a syrenge without needle so we can pull paint direct from the can and thinner from a small bowl.
For acetone thinning we have a stainless steel film can with a slip on lid that keeps it from evaporating.
By mixing on the thick side the over spray is nonexistent at a cost of slow spraying but the payoff is minimal mess and much greater coverage but it does take longer to spray this way.
Before we painted as well as a blind man with a fire hose but this process works well for us.
On something small brushing makes sense but not on a larger item.
